There has been quite a bit of hype over the past couple of years regarding Mirvish + Gehry Toronto, a recently approved two-tower mixed-use development that will scrape the skies above King Street West. The much-discussed development will mark Gehry's return to his hometown of Toronto, following on his work that re-envisioned the Art Gallery of Ontario, and which was completed in 2008. In today's Throwback Thursday, we compare the under-construction AGO of 2007 with a view of the expanded facility as it appears today.

In the image above, we are given a view facing east on Dundas Street West in 2007. In the image below, that same view has been transformed by the new Frank Gehry-designed façade. In the background, the recently completed Residences at the RCMI can be seen standing tall over University Avenue.
