The City of Toronto's Avenues plan encourages intensification of our arterial roads well served by transit, calling for mid-rise developments like ZIGG Condos by developers Madison Homes and Fieldgate Homes. Even though this stretch of St. Clair is not covered Avenues Plan, the 11-storey, Kirkor Architects-designed condominium development generally fits the profile of what is being looked for. Now, a month after getting a look at the first renderings, we can add the project's scale model to our knowledge of what the building will look like.

ZIGG Condos draws its moniker from the ziggurat-shape formed by the building's terraces, which are clearly visible on the scale model in the image below. Other notable features on the scale model include the white areas depicting the building's precast cladding, as well as the use of real wood to replicate the wooden panels which will be used to clad the building's crown.

ZIGG holds 166 condominium units ranging in size from 500 square-feet up to 1,776 square-feet. Once construction of the development is completed, currently slated for the Spring of 2018, residents will have access to a selection of amenities, including a pet washing station, games room, a gym and a party room, and most spectacularly a rooftop terrace with views over Forest Hill, Deer Park, and the city skyline.
