Last month we introduced The Bean Condominiums, a newly announced 50-unit boutique condominium development by Royalpark Homes coming to Dufferin Street a few blocks north of Eglinton Avenue West. Designed by Romanov Romanov Architects, The Bean will rise five storeys from the corner of Dufferin and Hopewell, only steps from Walter Saunders Memorial Park and a few short blocks away from the shops and restaurants of Eglinton Avenue.

The Bean is an example of the type of infill redevelopment the City of Toronto wants to see on our main streets to keep our neighbourhoods and shopping streets vital. In addition to the increase in local population, the development will add about 197 square metres—or about 2,000 square feet—of ground floor commercial space facing Dufferin Street.

Residents of the building will benefit from its amenity offerings, which will occupy 464 square metres of The Bean's fifth floor, including 94 square metres for a lounge/party room, and 370 square metres of outdoor terrace space with a panoramic view of the surroundings.

The Bean will replace a former car dealership on a fairly low-density stretch of Dufferin Street. This section of Dufferin a couple of kilometres south of Yorkdale Mall is well served by the TTC's 29 Dufferin bus, and coupled with its proximity to the coming Dufferin Crosstown LRT Station a couple blocks away, makes The Bean's site ripe for this intensification.
