It was just under one month ago that we looked at the demolition progress at the site of The Nest, a new mid-rise condominium development coming to St. Clair Avenue West in Toronto's Hillcrest neighbourhood. In the time since, demolition and shoring work are practically complete. This weekend the development will notch up a major milestone as a ground breaking event will officially launch the project's excavation and construction phases.

The event kicks off on Saturday, October 18th at 1 PM, with the official ground breaking occurring at 2 PM. Representatives from developer Rockport Group and architect RAW Design will be on hand to celebrate. Guests will be treated to burgers from local butcher shop Roast, and caricature artists will be present to create portraits of guests in attendance. The team behind The Nest is also offering sidewalk chalk activities and a clown creating balloon animals to entertain the kids. Another highlight will be the re-creation of the famous Hillcrest Village mural by artist William Lazos, who has been commissioned to design and paint the hoarding which will fence off the site during the project's construction.
