Construction is nearing completion at The Heathview, a pair of twin 30-storey rental towers by Morguard, currently topped off at the corner of Heath and Tweedsmuir, near St. Clair West subway station in Forest Hill. The Page + Steele / IBI Group Architects-designed towers, which are virtually identical on the outside, contain an uneven split of units, with 350 units inside the north tower and 250 in the south tower.

Work on the north tower is essentially complete, and occupancies are well under way. The south tower of the development, which is now almost fully sealed off from the elements, features larger units with luxury finishes and unobstructed views of the city skyline for residents in south-facing units. A swimming pool is added to the extensive set of amenities for south tower residents.

In the image above, we can see the south tower's temporary construction hoist still in place on the tower's north face, while just the last sections of glazing yet to be installed just below the crown. Once the construction hoist is longer needed, the last rise of units will be sealed in as the hoist comes down.

The Heathview is seeking LEED Gold certification, with several energy efficiency features being put into place, including rainwater collection for landscape irrigation, green roofs, and recycling of 75% of the waste created during the demolition of the Peter Dickinson-designed rental buildings which previously occupied the site.
