Towards the end of August, we highlighted a selection of new projects to watch out for in September, and as promised, details are beginning to emerge on many of the developments we introduced. One of these projects is ZIGG Condos by developers Madison Homes and Fieldgate Homes, a condominium development coming to centrally located St. Clair Avenue, just west of Avenue Road.

The 11-storey Kirkor Architects-designed building is named for its distinctive shape, which is inspired by the ancient stepped pyramids of Mesopotamia, know as ziggurats. In modern Toronto condo terms, that form translates into lots of terraced suites, especially on the south side of the building. This type of mid-rise density is being encouraged by the City of Toronto's Avenues plan, which promotes medium-sized residential developments on the city's arterial thoroughfares.

ZIGG Condos will contain 166 condominium units, ranging in size from 500 square-feet up to 1,776 square-feet. The development will offer residents a selection of amenities, including the rooftop deck with barbecue area and fireplace visible in the rendering below. Residents will also have access to a pet washing station, game room, guest parking, guest suite, bicycle parking, a gym and a party room.

Additional information and renderings will continue to come in, and as more details emerge, we will update our dataBase file for the project, linked below. Want to get involved in the discussion?
