On Wednesday September 17th, Ryerson University's Department of Architectural Science will play host to guest speakers and celebrated architects Dorte Mandrup and Louis Becker.

Based in Denmark, Dorte Mandrup's portfolio spans two decades, and in that time she has become well known for her artistic talent and expertise in architectural design and her ability to work in difficult contexts while still creating innovative designs. Dorte’s work is the product of an analytical thinking style which leads to unconventional, innovative and surprising solutions to complex sites and contexts. The winner of numerous national and international awards, Dorte's ability to address a problem at its core is also recognized and used in jury contexts, and in her work as a lecturer and professor. Dorte is a board member at Louisiana Museum of Modern Art and since 2011 an appointed member of the Historic Buildings Council under the Act of the Ministry of Culture on Building Preservation and Conservation of Buildings and Urban Environments.

Also based in Denmark, Louis Becker is Principal and Partner at Henning Larsen Architects and has been part of the firm's management team since 1998 representing the company’s activities on the global market. Currently, he is also an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Architecture and Design at Aalborg University, and in 2011, he was awarded the Eckersberg Medal by the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts recognizing his contribution to Danish architecture. Established in 1959, Henning Larsen Architects currently employs 229 people and has offices in Copenhagen, Oslo, The Faroe Islands, Munich, Istanbul, and Riyadh in addition to the new office in Hong Kong.

Louis Becker and Dorte Mandrup will both be speaking this Wednesday, September 17 at 6:30 PM at 325 Church Street. Dorte Mandrup's talk will examine "Public Work", while Louis Becker will discuss "People, Space, Daylight".
