New high-rises continue to transform Toronto's once-suburban areas with new growth and vitality. The Don Mills and Sheppard area is one of these communities going through some major changes, thanks to ELAD Canada's Emerald City development. Located directly across from Fairview Mall, the first three towers of Emerald City are now essentially complete and being occupied by new residents. Now, the next phase is on the horizon, and Emerald City is preparing to grow again.
Continuing south along Don Mills Road, ELAD's new offering of a trio of towers and connected podiums has been dubbed The Colours of Emerald City. ELAD will soon introduce the first condominium in the new phase, Biyu, where prices will begin from the mid-$200,000s.
The Colours of Emerald City is located on one of North York’s highest elevations, and as we have discovered on visits to the first three phases, offers impressive views across the surrounding community to the nearby North York City Centre skyline, and all the way south along Yonge Street to the more distant Downtown Toronto skyline.
Biyu at The Colours of Emerald City will feature an impressive set of amenities, including a fitness centre, swimming pool, hot tub, his and hers saunas, a dining room, lounge, screening room and games room, as well as an outdoor barbecue terrace.
Like residents of the first three completed towers, buyers at Biyu will have easy access to transit, situated just south of Don Mills Station on the TTC's Sheppard Subway (Line 3) and close to the junction of Highways 404 and 401 and the Don Valley Parkway. The surrounding neighbourhood offers amenities including schools and a library, plus the newly constructed Parkway Forest Community Centre, slated to open before the end of this year. The new community centre, which will include a gym, YMCA-run daycare, rooftop garden, outdoor pool and pavilion, will offer approximately 50,000 square feet of recreational space, providing community residents with a place for learning, athletics, and socializing.
Among the community's more impressive features, Emerald City’s public art installation, created by Douglas Coupland, Canadian novelist, visual artist and Officer of the Order of Canada, adds a shot of vibrant colour to the community. The first phase, “Four Seasons,” features a series of cones that stand from 48 to 60 feet high, while seven more cylinders have begun to appear, expanding the reach of the work to form a distinctive visual signature across the Emerald City community.
