The northwestern leg of the TTC's Line 1 (Yonge-University-Spadina Line) runs on a grade-separated alignment down the middle of the truncated Allen Road - the only realized portion of the never-completed Allen Expressway. The subway stations on this stretch of line feature interesting designs that reflect the aesthetic styles of the era they were built in, the booming 1970s. Stations like Eglinton West, Glencairn and Lawrence West feature warm materials like brick and tile, and expansive skylights. Today's Photo of the Day, submitted to the UrbanToronto Flickr Pool by Stilez, shows the view from the top of an escalator at Glencairn Station.
