When we last checked in on The HeathviewMorguard's twin-towered rental complex under construction near Bathurst and St. Clair, the crane had just been removed from the north tower of the Page and Steele / IBI Group Architects-designed development. Cladding now covers practically the entire north tower, and the removal of the construction hoist on the south facade will mark the tower's exterior completion.

The two thirty-storey towers stand on a site formerly occupied by mid-20th century rental apartment buildings designed by Peter Dickinson. The aging structures were taken down to make way for the new rental development, and as a result, 146 units out of The Heathview's total of 600 are being designated as replacement rental units as per City requirements.

Occupancy for the north tower got under way earlier this month, and the second round of occupancy is expected to commence in September. The final round of move-ins is expected for October, while occupancy for the adjacent south tower will occur after that.

The development is seeking LEED Gold certification, so several efficiency measures have been worked into the development, including a rainwater recycling system to be used for landscape irrigation, as well as green roofs and the recycling of 75% of the demolition waste.

Each of The Heathview's towers will feature their own amenity spaces, with offerings including a fitness area, steam rooms, a yoga room, a community meeting room, a dedicated upper party room, lounge and a private theatre. The project will also feature two outdoor terraces overlooking the grounds of St. Michael's College.
