In the past, Toronto Fire Services' (TFS) Safety Awareness Week's education efforts have focused mainly on single-family dwellings, but Toronto's high-rise population is growing faster than ever, with about half of Toronto residents now living in high-rise apartment and condominium buildings. Due to the changing housing demographic, this year's safety awareness week will target high-rise residents with a week of events staring Monday, June 9, and running every day until the 14th.

Safety Awareness Week is run by TFS to provide communities with effective education on fire safety, and as part of the program, TFS and Toronto Community Housing staff will go door-to-door at TCH properties handing out a new fire survival brochure called 'Fire in Your High-rise'.

At each of the events listed below, TFS and Enbridge Gas will be offering free hotdogs, and various other fun activities to engage young visitors, including an inflatable fire truck, temporary tattoos, stickers and colouring books.
