Canderel's YC Condos is the latest condominium development on offer in the Yonge and College Streets area. The 66-storey Graziani + Corazza Architects-designed project, will offer 17,400 square feet of world-class amenities on the 7th, 64th, and 66th floors. When we last discussed the development, we focused on the amenity spaces on the upper floors of the building, but today as Yonge Street gears up to host a weekend's worth of partying and parades, we are taking a look at the elements of the building closer to ground level.

Getting the pedestrian realm right with our new buildings is becoming the focus of increasing attention as we remake many of this city's main streets. While the two and three-storey buildings which line most of our main streets are often less than beautiful, they have provided fine-grained retail which draws people and enlivens to street. Balconies along a street like Yonge which sees a fair number of events add life as spectators congregate on them at these special times of the year too. Thankfully, YC Condos has been designed with both retail at ground level, and balconies above, both for the commercial office space in YC's podium, and for the residential amenities located atop the podium on YC's 7th floor.

This amenity level will provide residents with 9,310 square-feet of Burdifilek-designed space to stay fit, entertain guests, and enjoy city views from a 3,390 square-foot outdoor terrace. Residents will have access to a gym, indoor and outdoor yoga spaces, a virtual aerobics facility, dining areas, a lounge and an outdoor terrace. The layout of the 7th floor's amenity spaces can be seen in the image below.

The 7th floor lounge will feature a sleek fireplace, contemporary furnishings and large windows looking out on to the outdoor terrace which overlooks Yonge Street.

Residents will be able to entertain their friends at private dining functions in either of YC's two private dining rooms or move the event outside as each dining room is paired with their own outdoor terrace and built-in barbeque areas.

Above the 7th floor is where the condo suites can be found, and they run uninterrupted up to the 64th floor. The uppermost two levels in the building are reserved for more spectacular amenity spaces, including one of the most appealing pools we've ever seen rendered for a Toronto condo. You can read up on those spaces in the other storey we linked to up top, or if you just want to dig deeper into the facts and the renderings, they can be found in our YC Condos dataBase file, linked below.
