Last weekend, Lemine Investment and Devron Developments  launched The Academy Condos at their presentation centre just south of Yonge and Sheppard. The turn out to the event was impressive with a line-up of potential buyers wrapping around the sales centre and down the block.

The doors to the presentation centre opened at noon and groups of 40 people were admitted at a time to get a look at the model, pick up promotional materials and talk with the sales team. Guests were also treated to beverages and snacks both inside the centre and while waiting in line.

The presentation centre was decorated with a vintage prep school theme complete with black-and-white photographs of young men and women playing sports and sitting in class among other school appropriate activities. All of the models in the photos were dressed in uniforms emblazoned with the Academy logo. The polo top part of the outfit was available to buy for especially enthused guests.

When inside, visitors were able to consider the detailed scale models which render the Morningside and Ellesmere area where the 26-storey condo is set to be built. The model also maps out the University of Toronto Scarborough campus along with its current and soon-to-come facilities. This puts the whole project in perspective considering that the Academy will make the most sense for UTSC students who are challenged by their school's housing arrangement, one which only offers 750 onsite beds to a student population of over 12,000.

This along with other draws, including proximity to a major hospital, gorgeous park, and plenty of shopping, were presented to visitors by the sales team members who pitched the condo and held Q and A sessions every half hour. The information and festivities were live broadcast by Fairchild Radio to pique interest in the event.

A chance to get more information about their prospective home wasn't the only pull to last Saturday's event; the six-hour long event offered its first 600 visitors a free $25 gift cards gas or coffee gift cards and every half hour there was a draw for a $1,000 prepaid Visa card.

We will continue to keep our eyes on this, one of many new additions to the UTSC area. In the meantime, to find out more about this project visit the dataBase file linked below. Have a comment? Feel free to leave a comment at the bottom of this page or in the associated Forum thread.
