Doors Open Toronto is a favourite event of just about every urban-nerd in Toronto. History buffs, armchair architects make up a good percentage of the festival's fan base, but for Toronto photographers, Doors Open provides an unmatched opportunity to get inside some of the city's most important buildings. While observation decks, theatres and architect's offices are a major draw, Doors Open also gives the public to major pieces of infrastructure like the historic R.C. Harris Water Treatment Plant, and the relatively new Portlands Energy Centre. In today's Photo of the Day, Flickr member Vik Pahwa takes us inside the chaos of pipes, levers and dials of the Portlands Energy Centre, a natural gas-burning power plant in Toronto's once heavily industrialized port area.
