This past Friday, the Building Industry and Land Development Association (BILD) honoured the year’s top builders, projects and marketing campaigns at the 34th annual BILD Awards. Attended by over 1,100 industry professionals, the event recognized the GTA’s best in 47 categories ranging from ad campaigns to architectural design and community building.

Top honours of the evening went to Mattamy Homes, who was presented with the prestigious Home Builder of the Year award for a record fifth time. This award highlights the builder who sets the standard for the rest of the industry by improving the image of building and development in the GTA. A key component of the judging process for this award is a customer satisfaction survey, completed by dozens of recent occupants of the builder’s communities. “Mattamy continues to set incredibly high standards for itself and the rest of our industry,” said Bryan Tuckey, BILD President and CEO. “Winning this award once is a remarkable achievement for a builder. But to be named BILD builder of the year for a fifth time is simply extraordinary.”

This year’s Green Builder of the Year awards were presented to TAS and Empire Communities. The Green Builder award recognizes the builder who demonstrates outstanding leadership in the implementation of green building practices from the planning stage right through construction. In the high-rise category, TAS received top honours, while Empire Communities received the Green Builder of the Year award in the low-rise category.

Greenpark Homes Chairman and CEO Carlo Baldassarra was honoured with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award with a special presentation. This recognition is BILD’s highest honour and was presented as a tribute to Baldassarra’s contribution to the building and development industry for more than four decades. “It is a privilege to present Carlo with this prestigious award,” said BILD President and CEO Bryan Tuckey. “He is an industry champion who has given so much to our association and to communities throughout the GTA.”

The High-rise of the year award was presented to Yonge+Rich by Great Gulf Homes, while Urban Towns at Bayview by Treasure Hill Home Corporation was selected in the low-rise category.
