The Cinesphere at Ontario Place changed the way we watch movies, becoming the first permanent IMAX theatre when built in 1971. In the decades since, the IMAX format has caught on worldwide, but with changes on the horizon for Ontario Place, the Cinesphere has been shuttered since 2012.  The spherical triodetic dome structure was designed by architect Eberhard Zeidler, and it's 40-plus year-old design still looks just as modern and futuristic today as it did on the day it opened. Today's Photo of the Day comes to us from Brian Carson, who submitted this moody monochrome shot of the Cinesphere in the UrbanToronto Flickr Pool.
