In a city as large as Toronto, there is too much for any one person to see or do. With the hustle and bustle of everyday life, inspirational and beautiful moments and images manage to elude even the most observationally inclined individuals. The daily routine often numbs us to sights all around, but we can live vicariously through the photography of others. Photographic representations of this city play a huge role in keeping UrbanToronto visually appealing, and as a way of giving back to the photographers that keep us Forum readers coming back for more, we award a contributor 'UrbanToronto Photographer of the Month'. This month, the photos of Forum contributor 'Matt M S', known beyond the UT Forum as Matt Smith, really jumped out.

A 21-year-old student residing in Kitchener, Matt has always had an interest in photography and took up the art as a hobby in January of 2012. Since then, Matt has combed the streets of Downtown Toronto capturing the passing moments that many would simply fail to notice while going through the motions of their daily routines.

Using a Canon 60D DSLR camera, Matt gets most of his shots using a 17-40mm wide angle lens and a 70-200mm telephoto as well as the super-affordable Canon 50mm 1.8. lens (known by photographers worldwide as the "nifty fifty").

Matt originally found out about UrbanToronto through one his photos being linked to a thread, and after taking a quick look at the site, he decided to join the Forum and share his own personal take on the city we call home.

Matt has too many amazing photos for us to share in one feature, so for a look at more of Matt's work, head over to his Forum thread, or his Flickr photostream, and share his unique take on Toronto.

We will return next month to feature another photographer from our Forum. Think you've got what it takes? Grab a camera or mobile device and get to work, then post your content in the City Photos & Videos section of the Forum, and you just may find yourself featured in next month’s article!
