It won't be too much longer until yet another high-rise pierces the skies of Toronto's Downtown core. On the east side of our bustling Financial District, a mid-century commercial mid-rise property is almost done being taken down to make way for the shoring and excavation of Concert Properties' 88 Scott, a Page + Steele / IBI Group Architects-designed 58-storey condominium tower.

Demolition of the existing property commenced this past Summer, and in the time since, the building's above ground floors have been fully removed and work has now moved on to the removal of the basement levels and foundations.

Once all the below grade structures have been cleared, the site will then need to be filled back to grade, giving rigs a flat surface from which to drill the project's below grade caisson walls.

Months of excavation will commence once the concrete caisson walls have been created. When the excavation is complete late this year, construction of the 669 foot high building can begin.
