On Bathurst Street just south of Bloor in Toronto's lively Annex area, Lindvest Properties' B.streets Condos is on the construction home-stretch. The 9-storey condominium topped off last year and has since been almost fully clad. With substantial progress achieved on the interior work, we should see the first residents moving in within the coming months.

The Hariri Pontarini Architects-designed project is fully clad on its north, south and west sides, while the east side fronting onto Loretto Lane is still awaiting finishing touches like balcony glazing. The west facade fronting onto Bathurst Street is the building's most prominent, and while the contrast between charcoal slate grey bricks and white precast panels is a dominant element across the highly articulated exterior, the effect is most dramatic on the Bathurst side.

There is still much work to do on the project's east side fronting on to Loretto Lane. This side of the site is currently being used as a staging area for construction crews and equipment, but finishing touches are now coming together as the activity shifts here from elsewhere on the site.

The east side of the project is also the location of B.streets' uniquely designed townhouse element, the Lane Homes. The six 2-storey homes front out on to one of the many low-traffic laneways which run through the area. More typically the domain of garages, laneway infill homes have popped up in recent years where pioneering lot owners have sought to make better use of the land. When the sites can be serviced, the City has allowed the new housing to go up. B.streets is the first Toronto condo to bring this specific housing style to a laneway.

As the sign says, completion is coming soon.
