While 2013 was a busy year of construction in the city, Toronto's neighbour to the west has also experienced its share of growth. From the completion of the internationally known Absolute World Towers by Cityzen Development Group to the launch of the $84 million first phase of Oxford Properties’ revitalization and expansion of Square One Shopping Centre, 2013 was also a busy year of development in the City of Mississauga.

One of the projects that has been rising into Mississauga's skyline is Crystal Condominiums at Pinnacle Uptown, by Pinnacle International. The overall project, known as Pinnacle Uptown, is being built on over a sizeable 36.5 acre property, and will consist of public parklands, retail and commercial space, condominium towers, and a collection of modern stacked towns. Crystal represents the first two 24 and 28-storey towers.

In January of 2013 the expansive site, located at the northwest corner of Hurontario Street and Eglinton Avenue, was still being excavated, followed by the installation of the first crane in February.

As spring rolled along work on the site was well underway with cranes for both towers up, and footings installed. By June 2013 construction reached ground level as can be seen in the photo by UT Forum member drum 118.

Through the summer season, concrete continued to pour at Pinnacle Uptown, as construction progressed above ground level and work on the podium commenced.

September was a busy month for the site. Construction on the two towers reached the 3rd floor, while crews began to clear the western end of the site where the townhomes will be built. Work also began on the new road system that will connect the community to Hurontario Street to the East.

October marked the launch of the next phase at Pinnacle Uptown, The Marquee Townhomes on the Park. Residents of this collection of 100 stacked townhomes will have exclusive access to their own amenities complex—the Marquee Club—which will have an outdoor swimming pool, hot tub, indoor excercise facilities, multi-purpose party room, and outdoor playground for families.

During Fall of 2013, the two Crystal towers continued to rise as work on the concrete slabs and cladding continued, with construction on the surrounding new roads and traffic lights happening simultaneously.

Finally, as 2013 drew to a close we can clearly see the two Crystal condo towers rising from the shared four-storey podium. The podium will connect the two Richmond Architects-designed towers via a grand lobby located at the centre of the structure.

We look forward to continue following the progress on this master-planned community into 2014, along with other significant ongoing projects in and around the growing City of Mississauga.
