In a construction-happy city like Toronto views change pretty quickly. Today's Throwback Thursday photo is vivid evidence of this. Here's what the view from the east side of the CBC building on Front Street at John looked like on July 15, 2007:

Construction is well underway on two buildings on a site that was a parking lot for decades and, prior to that warehouses that were attached to the massive railyards located directly to the south. In the foreground we see the pit and crane for what today is the Ritz-Carlton Hotel located at 181 Wellington West. Starting to rise behind it is what today is the RBC Centre office complex with the Toronto skyline occupying the rest of the photo. The present-day view is radically different.

With construction done we now see the west side of the Ritz-Carlton with the wider view in the older shot long gone.

New buildings certainly add to a city's visual appeal but also impact them in profound ways.
