With our city still leading the continent in high-rise construction and development, Torontonians continue to point their cameras skyward, capturing brief moments in time from a rapidly changing landscape. From high above the trendy Distillery District, the views shared by our Photographer of the Week paint Toronto as a moody metropolis with dramatic sunsets and panoramic views: we chose Forum contributor “Razz”, known beyond the Forum as Victor Razgaitis, as UrbanToronto Photographer of the Week.

Born and raised in the city, Victor grew up in Parkdale before moving to Etobicoke and finally settling in the Distillery District in 2004. His career in the commercial real estate finance field has spanned over 30 years, and fostered his interest in development. While Victor associates as pro-development, he also has a keen interest in heritage properties and the interaction between new and old structures.

Victor is extremely modest considering his level of talent, and though he doesn’t consider himself a photographer, his photographic contributions are certainly considered to be among the most eye-catching on the Forum. Armed with a Canon Rebel T4i DSLR and more than half a dozen years of experience, Victor shares what are perhaps some of the most climactic and dreamlike shots of Toronto available on the “Projects & Construction” section of the Forum.

Since joining UT in early 2010, Victor has contributed his dramatic city views to some of UrbanToronto’s most popular Forum threads, including L Tower, Market Wharf, ICE Condos, and Aura at College Park, but his aerial vantage point also covers several future development sites.

Victor is admittedly looking forward to watching the progression of several proposed and early-stage construction projects, including Monde, Aqualina, Pinnacle’s TorStar lands, the LCBO site, Backstage, 88 Scott Street, Massey Tower, Yonge & Rich, Bay-Adelaide East, the Globe & Mail Centre, 1 Bloor East, and many more.

We will return next week to feature another photographer from our Forum. Think you've got what it takes? Grab a camera or mobile device and get to work, then post your content in the Forum, and you just may find yourself featured in next week’s article!
