We have been keeping a close eye on The Daniels Corporation’s NY2 at Bayview and Sheppard since construction started last year, including monthly visits to the site since mid-summer to check in on the project’s progress. When we visited the Core Architects-designed project at the end of September, the 7-storey structure had just recently topped off, and cladding installation was in full swing. Now, a month later, the main black and white cladding of the residential floors is almost fully installed, with the building still awaiting exterior finishes like precast concrete and balcony glazing.

Other exterior details are starting to come together as well, like the charcoal brick finish now being applied to the large frame-like sections which project from the building’s façades.

As depicted in the market renderings, the building’s northeast corner is now being clad in a sleek, reflective floor-to-ceiling glass. Directly below, we can see the newly installed dark tinted glazing of NY2’s future ground floor retail space.

The concrete, windowless western wall on the structure’s northwest elevation is now covered in a moisture barrier in preparation for the installation of an exterior insulation finishing system (EIFS).

The 140-unit condominium is on track for 2014 occupancy, at which point Daniels’ NY Towers community will officially be complete. With work on the building’s exterior making significant progress, we look forward to the installation of final features like balcony glazing when we return to NY2 again in coming months.
