As the final tract of land developed by The Daniels Corporation for their award-winning NY Towers community, we have been keeping a close eye on the construction of NY2, a 7-storey condominium being built on Sheppard just east of Bayview.
For much of this year we have been visiting the NY2 construction site at the tail end of every month. Since our last visit at the end of August, concrete work on the seventh and final floor of the project has been completed, and work on the building’s exterior cladding has accelerated considerably.
Get the building fully clad is now the order of the day at this Core Architects-designed development. The exterior of the building is quickly being enveloped in a dark tinted glazing, contrasting with white spandrel, and all framed by slate-gray mullions.
When we stopped by one month ago, the project’s construction hoist was in the process of being assembled. The now-fully operational hoist has been integral in the speedy cladding installation over the past month.
Large slabs of white precast concrete, which were being lifted into place by a portable crane one month ago, now form the exterior walls and canopy of the building’s ground floor.
Like many of Daniels’ developments, NY2 contains suites available under Daniels’ innovative rent-to-own program. With the project topped out and glazing being installed at an impressive rate, it won’t be too long until new residents can move in, tentatively slated for the Summer of 2014.
