One of the most rapidly evolving side streets in Toronto, Charles Street East in the growing Bloor-Yorkville neighbourhood now has yet another above-grade construction site. CHAZ Yorkville Condos, a 47-storey condominium by developer 45 Charles Ltd. and project manager Edenshaw Homes, now sits above grade with work underway on the second level of the podium.

Inspired by the Macy Dubois-designed brutalist structure demolished to make way for CHAZ, the Page + Steele/ IBI Group Architects design will make use of a unique faceted floorplate which both maximizes window space and corner units, while reflecting the angular look of its predecessor.

After concrete has been poured for the second level, three more of the large rectangular floors will be built before the podium section gives way to the faceted typical tower floors above. We will see next month by how many more floors the PCL Construction logo has risen within the neighbourhood.

When complete, CHAZ Yorkville Condos will offer its residents a host of amenities, including intimate lounge areas, a two-sided fireplace, a large garden area, an indoor/outdoor dining area with a barbecue, a billiards room, all at ground level, plus a spectacular two-storey high entertainment space perched over the city over thirty storeys up in the air!
