We've come a long way since the early days of the horse-drawn street railway, which began in 1861. Toronto is now home to the largest streetcar system in the Americas in terms of ridership, track length, and number of cars. Today's photo was taken by Flickr contributor Nick Junior and provides us with a view looking down one of Toronto's numerous streetcar lines as it cuts its way through one of our city's many urban canyons. With the new larger streetcars arriving soon we will certainly see ridership increase over the next few years, and if we are lucky maybe a new line or two.
