Crews are working away constructing the underground floors on one of the Bloor-Yorkville area’s newest residential towers, the 47-storey CHAZ Yorkville Condos, by 45 Charles Ltd and Edenshaw Homes. That's a deep pit down there, and there are several garage floors and a number of months to go before the construction brings the building up to ground level.

Meanwhile, the job of selling the the building’s remaining suites continues, and here the developer has decided to have a little fun. Last Saturday, pedestrians passing the CHAZ sales centre on Yorkville Avenue just east of Hazelton, were treated to a quirky display of living tableaus performed by a spirited Marie Antoinette impersonator—and yes—they were indeed invited to eat cake, as cupcakes were served to those who stopped to investigate.

Before you ask yourself “But why Marie Antoinette?” take into account that “Why not?” is an equally valid question.  Marketing encompasses more than just glossy advertisements and radio jingles. Viral advertising has historically played on human curiosity to generate a buzz based on the principal that as a species, we thirst for knowledge. Another lesson learned from viral advertising is that the campaign doesn’t necessarily need to have anything to do with product—as long as the mental association is made by the potential consumer—and if you are like me, you just might be wooed by female historical figures proffering frosted desserts!

And if you aren’t like me and prefer your fun and quirkiness in smaller doses, there is always a good old fashioned sales event coming up.  The one-day-only event will take place on Tuesday May 14th at 6:00 PM at the CHAZ Yorkville sales centre located at 101 Yorkville Avenue, just steps from Bay Subway Station on the TTC Bloor-Danforth line. Potential purchasers are invited to attend the event for an opportunity to own at CHAZ Yorkville Condos from $329,900 with only 5% down.  Further incentives include credit on closing ranging from $8,000 to $18,000.
