We are a city never afraid to reinvent ourselves, whether it be architecturally or culturally. Toronto, for better or worse, has usually been on the forefront of the new. Today's photo, taken by forum member TheTigerMSTR from the historic Palace Pier, gives us a great view of the water where Toronto and Etobicoke meet. Palace Pier was originally intended to be a "Brighton"-style vacation spot. It was a small amusment park from 1941 until the 1970s when the first of two condo towers was constructed on the site. Both Palace Pier condo towers now tie for the 45th tallest buildings in the city standing at 46 storeys each. Read a bit about the history of Palace Pier we wrote about here and check out our Then and Now that featured the site here.
