Yesterday afternoon, Tarion Warranty Corporation announced the recipients of the 2013 Tarion Awards of Excellence at a luncheon event held at the Novotel Hotel’s Gibson Ballroom in North York. Tarion, a private corporation established in 1976 to regulate the new home building industry in Ontario, licenses all new home and condominium builders pursuant to provincial legislation. This ensures that all new home builders provide purchasers with warranty coverage that is guaranteed by Tarion.  As of the end of 2012, more than 381,000 homes in Ontario were protected under warranty.

“Happy, satisfied homeowners are the best indicator of good customer service. Tarion Award of Excellence winners are decided by homeowner feedback and recognize builders who go the extra mile to put their purchasers first,”said Howard Bogach, Tarion President and CEO. “We congratulate the winners and all finalists for being leaders in customer service excellence.”

The Tarion Awards, the only awards in Ontario that recognize new home builders based solely on their customer service delivery, were awarded for four categories of builders, based on the following building volumes; High-Rise, Large Volume, Medium Volume and Small Volume.

Nominees for the awards were chosen based on the results of a comprehensive survey sent to more than 40,000 Ontario homeowners who took possession of a new home between October 1, 2011 and September 30, 2012. More than 6,800 survey responses were received, representing 17% of consumers who bought a new home in Ontario during that time.  Survey questions covered every stage of the homeowner-builder relationship beginning with the signing of the agreement of purchase and sale, through construction, pre-delivery inspection, and after-sales service.  2013’s finalists are listed below, with the winners following:
