Old Town Toronto, a neighbourhood that remembers the city's past with its red brick, quaint light posts, and village charm, has managed to tame the enveloping towers of the nearby city. Instead, the district's quest to grow while maintaining its entire appeal can be seen in today's photo of the day. Taken by UT member someMidTowner, the iconic Gooderham Building sits adjacent to The Berczy, a project that respects its surrounding using textures set to bridge 19th Century character with current vision. The Berczy's scale, materials, and setbacks integrate the street seamlessly with the towering glass density seen in the background. A layering of era and development adds vitality and interest to Toronto's urban rhythm.
