The condominium towers at One Sherway are nearing completion after several years of planning and construction. The towers, four in total, range from 23 stories to 32 storeys and are contributing to an everchanging density of new development around Toronto's malls. New photos taken recently illustrate the near-completion stage of the project, with only one crane tower remaining to be removed. Developers Menkes and Great Gulf erected the Page + Steele / IBI Group Architects-designed project on the site of a Sheridan Nurseries outlet immediately to the south of Sherway Gardens, one of Canada's most successful malls.

While construction is scheduled to wrap up later this year on the condominiums, construction on the mall is just now ramping up. First opened in 1971, Sherway Gardens has expanded three times since then and has just embarked on its largest expansion to date. The $350 million project by Cadillac Fairview will unfold in stages until completion in 2016, and will add another 210,000 square feet of space to the centre, bringing the total up to approximately 1,200,000 square feet. Anchors currently include The Bay and Sears, while Sporting Life and Holt Renfrew will be relocating to larger premises in the mall. Seattle-based Nordstrom will also be opening up in Sherway Gardens, one of the upscale fashion department store's first four locations in Canada. New renovation work by Dialog Architects will refresh the mall throughout, while the iconic tent-roof structure, designed by the Zeidler Roberts Partnership (now Zeidler Partnership Architects), will be restored.
