Today's Photo of the Day features one of the largest institutional developments currently underway within the GTA. The new Humber River Regional Hospital (HRRH), located just north of the 401 west of Keele, is currently under construction with the official groundbreaking occurring last December; forum member cruzin4usourced this impressive aerial image of the current state of construction. With what looks like 8 cranes currently on site, this project stands out prominently for anyone driving by on the 401, slowly rising amidst its post-war neighbours.

One key aspect to the new hospital is its digital capacity; the hospital will be the first 'fully digital' hospital in North America, incorporating new technologies and systems in order to prevent delays deliver a high level of patient care. An informative video that outlines more about the project and the new building’s features can be found here. The building was designed by HDR Architects, a large-scale international firm that specializes in institutional projects.
