Detropia, a film by directors Rachel Grady and Heidi Ewing (of Jesus Camp) is the story of a city that has become synonymous with the erosion of the manufacturing base and ensuing financial and economic issues in the United States. The film follows several Detroit residents through the city and provokes discussion on why they choose to remain in a largely abandoned, dangerous and economically depressed town and contrasts hope for the future with Detroit's stark realities. Detropia provides a perspective on Motown through the eyes of those who live there as they navigate through familiar images of the city.
