New concepts on the Future of Architecture will be showcased by the Ontario Association of Architects at the Design Exchange for Scotiabank Nuit Blanche on September 29th. Architects are invited to re-imagine the future where simplified planning and building approvals allow for more spontaneous, flexible and adaptable structures creating a new social landscape.

This exposition's four central themes include:

Opportunities for social connection: Cloud service libraries, repositories of information, the transformation of educational institutions from places to learn knowledge to places of knowledge creation, and simplified planning approvals to allow for adaptable social spaces.

The reclamation of unused space: Expansion into overregulated and underdeveloped spaces, "Pavilion cities" where buildings are suspended overhead.

The renewal of public engagement and interest in architecture: Envisioning the public as an essential component of the architectural process, with future design guided by culture.

The re-visioning of iconic landmarks: The conversion of downtown business centres into living spaces with well-developed transportation networks as "work" shifts from being a place to performing a task, such as Ontario Place being repurposed into a transit hub and urban park to create a new form of civic space.
