One of the more anticipated condo openings in Toronto this fall has been E Condos, the 64- and 38-storey complex soon to rise at the northeast corner of Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue by the team of Bazis Inc., Metropia Urban Landscapes, and RioCan REIT. Designed by Rosario Varacalli, the project was an instant hit on UrbanToronto from the day the first renderings were released several months ago, and anticipation has been growing since for a launch of the ultra-modern pair of towers.

Today saw the first phase of sales activity for E Condos, with an absolutely packed VIP Broker event, split into three mini-events to get everyone inside the door and fully informed. Baker Real Estate President Barbara Lawlor led the proceedings, outlining the many features of the building, and underlining the amazing location in the heart of this city's Midtown, before remarking on the design-forward architecture and introducing architect Rosario Varacalli. Varacalli is pictured above addressing the gathering. A reminder that those red stripes part way up each tower represent the cantilevered amenties spaces containing pools-with-a-view — you'll be able to swim here with a 30-storey view of the city through the water — sent a bit of electricity around the room.

Besides the insanely cool pools that are coming here, the models of the towers themselves are a very photogenic. We love the staggered geometry and light/dark contrast of the cladding, and those red stripes are simply seductive. Then there's the shorter north tower: UrbanToronto may not be home to too many fans of short… but it's such a slender tower that it cannot be anything but a standout when complete.

In advance of an upcoming event for the E Condos registration list on September 29th we'll be back to tell you more about what the insides of this complex have to offer, but in the meantime, here are a number of close ups of the daring overhanging podium floors, both at the corner of Yonge and Eglinton and the north tower on Roehampton.

Completion of the first building, the south tower, is anticipated for August of 2015. Here's one more look up before we are back with more soon.
