Installation of replacement balcony glass at Daniels' Festival Tower is now well underway. The original glazing on the KPMB and Kirkor-designed building was a half inch thick stripe-fritted glass, but in wake of the failure of some panes the replacement is a laminated fritted glass. Laminated glass remains in place in case of failure. Tying into the variable pattern of translucent glass used on the Bell Lightbox below, the use of fritted panels on the tower above not only achieves continuity between the adjoined buildings, but provides added visual interest and a welcome weightiness.
