The Humber Bay Shores' newest development, Eau du Soleil, has gotten our Forum members talking, and the recently revealed project model has re-sparked our interest in this innovative and architecturally challenging design. Developed by Empire Communities, the project is designed by both Zeidler Partnership as well as E.I. Richmond.

The building continues a growing trend we're seeing in lakeshore condominiums with a clear reference to its lakefront location both in name as well as design; the model beautifully accentuates the dramatic curved lines that divide the tower vertically, simultaneously mirrored in the gradual terracing that begins on the podium and blends into the towers. Nautilus, designed by Graziani and Corazza and developed by Monarch Group features a dramatic curved design that references a drop of water.

We've had renderings for the project for a while now, and have heard both praise and scorn — while some applaud Zeidler and E.I. Richmond's experimentation with new forms, others aren't fond of the departure from the more traditional podium-and-tower configuration. Regardless of specifics, the project will surely make an impact on the growing south-Etobicoke skyline as the western anchor for the growing Humber Bay Shores community.

The project received approval for two towers of 40 and 62 storeys, with a whopping 1,253 residential units and mixed commercial/residential use. For more information on Eau de Soleil, check out the dataBase listing below and see what our Forum members have to say on the associated project forum.
