Word has reached UrbanToronto from a reliable real estate industry source that the Stollery's store at Yonge and Bloor streets in Toronto has been purchased by Apple Corporation.

If this is true, the next question is what to expect. Will Toronto's long-awaited Apple flagship be a stand-alone store, all-new construction like the Lincoln Centre Apple Store in New York, pictured below?

Or, might we get something like Apple's store on Regent Street in London, where the new store fits into the existing building? Certainly Stollery's does not have quite the architectural merit of what is pictured below, but there are those who will miss Stollery's with its doodads, pippypoos, and Spanish tiles.

Either way, we are surprised to hear the news, and eagerly anticipating what comes next for this corner!
