What was for the longest time a dead zone in downtown Toronto is preparing for massive change in the next few years. Today's Photo Of The Day, taken by UrbanToronto Forum member androiduk, shows a long rundown and neglected Cherry Street south of Front Street.

But hoarding on the east side of the street coupled with cranes on the west show that change is coming very soon. The hoarding is for the West Don Lands revitalization that will be the home village for the 2015 Pan Am games. The cranes are for the Clear Spirt and Gooderham condos that are rising at the Distillery District. In three years this will be a vibrant and unrecognizable neighbourhood. UrbanToronto will be back in 2015 to duplicate this shot.
