It is fascinating to look back at a Toronto not so far removed from today yet still quite different. In today's Photo Of The Day we travel back to a Toronto circa 1974. We figure 1974 due to the construction status of the CN Tower, where work commenced in 1972 and was completed in 1976.

Taken by UrbanToronto Forum member Goldie, the photo is interesting due to the fact that Commerce Court was the tallest building in the city at the time. The current skyline was just starting to develop and within a few short years First Canadian Place would rise to significantly dominate the skyline. Check out some really great historical photos here of the land where Commerce Court sits today.

Taken from the Manulife Centre, the photo also shows the Sutton Place Hotel, which we noted yesterday has been sold to Lanterra Developments. They plan to convert the building to condos.
