Today we introduce the new Urban Toronto — the result of many months of research, planning, and design.

There are a significant number of changes we'd like to take you through.

Design

Obviously the biggest change to the new UT is the refreshed design. As you can see, we have a new logo and new look across the entire site. We hope you like it!

News

The News section has a couple new features we'd like to highlight. First; you are no longer required to register with Urban Toronto in order to comment on a story. We're using Disqus for commenting, which means you can now sign in to comment in a number of different ways, including using your social networking identities. Second; sharing tools are now included with each story, so you can use Facebook, stumbleupon, twitter, etc. to share Urban Toronto's news articles.

Note: We will gradually get all of our articles from 2010 and early 2011 up on the new site. While you may need to be patient if you want to look back, feel free to send us a request if you would like particular articles back up sooner rather than later.

dataBase

The dataBase is a major new component to Urban Toronto. Starting small, the dataBase will grow to contain complete details on every active project in the city. Official information will be displayed within each page, giving you instant infomation on each project. See a couple of examples at the bottom of the article. If you are a developer, or work with a developer, contact us to get your project listed. You'll receive significant editorial coverage and, unlike other database-driven sites, our listing is completely free!

Forum

We've made minor cosmetic changes to the Forum section. The header has been redesigned to fit with the redesign of the site. The forum colour is now back to blue. Commenting and posting continues in the same manner, without any changes.

The Forum is divided into two major areas: The Greater Toronto Discussions and Toronto Real Estate. We look at the two sections as "Art" and "Commerce," respectively. Anything "Art" stays in the The Greater Toronto Discussions areas. Anything "Commerce"-related (buying, selling, prices, layouts, PDI's, etcs) stays in the Toronto Real Estate section. Some might think that UT is not welcoming to real estate agents — not true! We simply want them to have their own section to do their business — that will be within the Real Estate section.

We are preparing to launch regular email newsletter to allow you to keep up with the site. Sign up for it here.

Got News?

Urban Toronto is Toronto's premier source for construction, development and real estate news. Our goal is to have all the news bases covered, every day. If you have any news, whether it be a photo update of your project or a launch event, let us know! The site garners 150,000 unique users a month — make sure they know what you are up to.

Social Networks

Urban Toronto is on social media in full force with Facebook (930+ fans) and Twitter (5925+ followers). Both are now integrated into the new site

The new site is still in beta mode — which means that we are still working on tweaking things behind the scenes. Let us know what you think of the new site. And be sure to contact us if you run into problems, broken links, etc.

Here's to a bold new future for Urban Toronto!
