Does Aspen Ridge Homes know something that other developers don't? It seems that while seasons may change in Toronto, the vast majority of condo renderings resolutely celebrate summer in all its technicolor glory. Aspen Ridge, however, recently released new renderings of Scenic on Eglinton, their 3-phase project on the edge of the West Don Valley, which make the best of this season; winter.

That's rather pretty. Pictured in the top rendering are all three phases of the Page + Steele designed project; excavation for the first two phases on the right is underway now. The third phase, seen on the left of the first rendering and featured solely in the second, will be the furthest east of the three towers, the tallest at 19 storeys, and the one with the most commanding view over the Don Valley parklands. If any site in Toronto should be celebrating winter in its renderings, the aptly-named Scenic seems appears to be a natural choice. The renderings inspired a trip to the site, and it's similarly snowy now of course. Here are several views. First, across the West Don Valley, from the old Inn On The Park site east of Leslie.

When thinking back to the few other winter renderings that we have seen... another Aspen Ridge project popped to mind: 77 Charles. This 16-storey luxury building, designed by Yann Weymouth of HOK Architects, is currently rising at the south end of Bloor-Yorkville, and recently hit ground level. A few years ago Aspen Ridge celebrated winter, and Christmastime especially, with this rendering:

UrbanToronto member Jasonzed recently captured these images of the project under construction.

Should more developers embrace winter renderings of their projects? The only other one we can think of is Hines' new Bayside project on Queens Quay. Are we forgetting any?
